From Gita Sahgal, UK

In April, 2010, Gita resigned as head of the Gender Unit at Amnesty International.

Friends

I write with great sadness to note the death of Rhonda Copelon, a great feminist lawyer, campaigner and friend. Rhonda challenged human rights orthodoxies to try to extend the protection of the law to poor women needing abortion and to victims of terrorism. She fought for those experiencing terrorism in Algeria and found herself up against the entire human rights establishment.

I was honoured to know Rhonda and to have her support. She knew more than most, that my recent allegations against Amnesty International were only the tip of the iceberg.
